Fulfillment

"That is happiness; to be dissolved into something complete and great."

- Willa Cather

Artists tend to lose themselves in their work. I've watched my oldest child paint. She squints, turns her head, and adds touches here and there. Though I've been watching her for several minutes, she is unaware of my presence. I've watched my dad at his workbench, pencil stuck over his ear. He measures, scribbles, and runs a piece of wood through the electric table saw. He is also lost in his work. The lucky ones are those whose work makes them melt into their projects so completely that the rest of the world disappears. That is happiness and fulfillment.

TODAY I WILL REFLECT UPON WHETHER OR NOT I EVER LOSE MYSELF IN MY WORK OR MY HOBBIES. IF I DON'T, I WILL EMBARK UPON A MORE FULFILLING CAREER OR FIND A MORE SUITABLE HOBBY.
