Reading of The Day!

"He is rich who is content with the least; for contentment is the wealth of nature."

- Socrates

Why do people travel great distances to see beautiful natural vistas for themselves? I think it is the calming effect the sights have on us. We feel serene, awed, and content. Nature is content, isn't it? A regal redwood isn't trying to be a dashing rose- the redwood. Ah, if we could only be content to be exactly what we are. For what we are deep inside is just as beautiful, if not more so, because of what we are capable of doing with it through our minds. Many of us are awed by those stories about the young man who starts in the company mailroom and ends up as the CEO by the time he's 40. But who's to say the man who will make history is any happier than the stock clerk, the dishwasher, or the janitor? Maybe the stock clerk has a beautiful family, tons of friends, and is a dozen times happier than the CEO who is no longer thrilled by his mansion or his Mercedes.

TODAY I WILL BE HAPPY JUST BEING ME.
