Anger Danger

"Speak when you are angry and you will make the speech you will ever regret."

-Ambrose Bierce

I used to think the person who walked away from a good argument was a fool, but I now know the person who walks away is very wise. When you feel the blood rushing to your face, think very carefully--the words that come to your mouth may be life-altering. Do you really want to blurt out what you are thinking at that very moment? Aren't your thoughts more akin to those of a possessed person? We remember things that hurt us to the core for a lifetime. Do you really want to rattle off a slew of hurtful words at this person? Do you really want to hear every thought anyone has ever had about you? Keep your mouth closed, and walk away. You can always have a discussion later, when you are back to your true, more generous self.

IF I FEEL ANGRY TODAY, I WILL TAKE DEEP BREATHS-AND THROUGH MY NOSE. I WILL NOT OPEN THE VOLCANO THAT IS MY MOUTH.
