A Symphony of Drummers
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step
to the music he hears, however measured and far away."
- Henry David Thoreau
My friends are varied and original, and I love this about them. One couple lives in the mountains and doesn't get too upset when one of their chickens wanders into the house. Another friends lives in a small New York apartment on the 18th floor and loves every minute of the Manhattan hubbub. I choose a quiet life in a condo near the water. Each of us marches to a different drummer, but we contribute to the magnificent symphony that is our world.
TODAY I WILL INVITE MY FRIEND TO COME VISIT ME. MAYBE NEXT YEAR I'LL VISIT HER AND EXPERIENCE CITY LIFE FOR A FEW DAYS.
