Reading of The Day!

Learn, Baby, Learn

"You cannot teach a man anything.

You can only help him discover it himself."

- Galileo

I teach writing, and I always tell my students good writing cannot be taught- it can only be learned. Two things are necessary in the teacher-student relationship: The teacher has to know the topic, and the student has to be open to learning. If either of these elements is off, the exercise is futile. People are not actually blank slates; they have innate propensities. We cannot just fill another person up with whatever knowledge we feel they need. But under the right circumstances, the butterfly will emerge and fly off on its own.

TODAY I WILL BE OPEN TO LEARNING SOMETHING NEW.
